Thw West Washington boys' basketball team held on to beat visiting Crothersville, clipping the Tigers 60-57 to improve their record to 6-4 overall.

 

The West Washington girls' basketball team ended its 12 game losing skid, picking up a 44-30 win at Medora.

 

The Salem Masonic Lodge #21 installed officers. They were:

Maurice Lee Day, senior warden

Brian Clark, worshipful master

Treavor Phipps, junior warden

John R. Hoffman, senior steward

 

Taxpayers in need of free tax preparation won't receive that help in Salem this year. The AARP announced it will not be opening a tax preparation site here this tax season.

 

Congressman Baron Hill, representative for Indiana's ninth congressional district, made a stop at Meadow View Health and Rehabilitation Center meeting with staff members and residents in an attempt to clarify some of the controversy surrounding H.R. 3962, better known as the Affordable Health Care for America Act.

 

The Washington County Commissioners approved a contract with Knox County EMS as our ambulance service.
